Prof. dr. Elmer Sterken

Elmer Sterken is KNIR liaison officer at the University of Groningen. He is Professor of Monetary Economics at and Special Advisor to the Board of the University of Groningen. In the latter role he focuses on internationalization strategy and educational innovation. He has served as the Rector Magnificus of the University of Groningen (2011-2019) and as an interim-director of KNIR (2019-2020). He has been a visiting scholar/professor to Yale University, Kobe University, Osaka University, Fudan University, and CESIfo at Ludwig Maximilian University. He is a member of the supervisory board of Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Council of the University of Tartu (Estonia), the supervisory board of the Groninger Museum and the Central Planning Committee of the Central Planning Bureau.
