Scholarship: for preparing a PhD-project

Titel onderzoek: Defining and constructing ancient Etruria in the Renaissance: Etruscan art in Italian regional, local and noble selffashioning beyond the Court of Cosimo I.
My research will seek to address the changing boundaries of what constituted the Etruscan heritage of the Italian peninsula in the Renaissance, also beyond the typical centre of this 'revival' in Florence. It will explore the diverse ways in which Etruscan artefacts pulled from the Italian soil were instrumentalised and situated historically by those believed to be best placed to give them meaning, particularly in Ferrara, Mantua, and Rome.
