Jenny van Calsbeek, BA

Jenny van Calsbeek is a MA student in Art History at the Rijksuniversiteit in Groningen. During the fall of 2020 she participated in the KNIR’s Minor Program Rome-Florence. In her BA thesis she discussed Jean-Etienne Liotard’s Apollo and Daphne, inspired by Bernini’s statue of the same name, in relation to the Paragone Debate and the relative superiority of painting. With a specialization in Classical and Renaissance art and theory, Rome has conquered a permanent place in her heart.
