My research focuses on the question how the populace of Roman Sicily used inscribed (Greek and Latin) funerarymonuments to formulate and anchor their identity in light of Roman hegemony. I study ca. 1700 Sicilian inscribedfunerary monuments. A research stay in Rome would allow me to study funerary practices in Rome and other locationsin Italy and use this as a comparative case study, help expand my network, and provide access to publications.
