We live in a time in which fake news seems to be everywhere. With the emergence of social media, misinformation and disinformation have gained ground. It seems, however, that this technique is nothing new: Julius Caesar and Octavianus used similar techniques to acquire political and popular support. It is therefore interesting to take a look in which ways politicians and emperors forged their image to their advantage and whether this is comparable.
