The special collections are the gems of our extensive collection of scientific heritage. Because of their origin, composition or otherwise, several special works of the KNIR Library are unique and of special value to our Institute.
Our special collections consist of:
– Collection of old books
– The Santi Collection
– Photographic materials
– Theses and dissertations
– Archives
– Medals
– Religious seals
– Ex-libris
– Original construction drawings of the KNIR
Parts of these collections have now been digitized. With a click on the images below, they can be accessed online via Open Access Platforms Issuu and Flickr.
The photographic collection of archaeological excavations by Carel Claudius van Essen can be accessed via the RUG website and via the URBS catalog.
Meanwhile, we continue to make our special collections even more accessible and suitable for study and research through rearrangement, metadata and digitization.
